Tagline: “The Talk,” you know . . . the one that we all should have had with our parents? The one that everybody seems to know about, but no one wants to actually talk about? Yes, that one, the one about sex.
Synopsis: In life, I believe that throughout the United States, there is a lack of communication or miscommunication and a disconnect between parents and their children regarding the topic of sex education. My film will show this in action by exploring what people remember about “The Talk”, the infamous sex talk. The content will reflect the need for proper sex education, due to difficulty that some parents have in communicating with their children about sex, which in most cases has been passed down from generations of uncomfortableness with the topic of sex. Leading to detrimental consequences for our society; such as, an increase in teen pregnancy and the new alarming rates of sexually transmitted diseases. Along with individual’s stories, the film will reveal statistical facts and insights gained from interviews and research done with experts in the field of sex education. It will also explore avenues that are currently available to seek out proper education, providing individuals with resources to become more comfortable with the topic. Hence, leading to more meaningful conversations about the topic of sex, therefore, providing children with the knowledge they will need to make sound choices when it comes to sex.
This project is currently in pre-production and production. We have done approximately 12 interviews to date with more to come. We have interviewed a varied cross-section of America, so far, and are eager to see if we can secure some interviews with some big names in the entertainment industry.
